Our Story
Shan Carroll, the owner of Show-Case Shutters, is a meticulous-minded engineer. While on vacation back in the late 1990s he visited a relative in Naples Florida who had plantation shutters in his home.
At the time, Shan was the owner of a custom cabinet and mill work shop in Christiansburg, Virginia. Driving back to Virginia, Shan kept thinking of those shutters. He ordered some shutter parts and began experimenting. Soon, he began selling shutters locally while continuing his cabinet business.
In 2000, Show-Case Shutters originally named Sher-Wood Shutters was established. Growing the business incrementally, Shan began selling his shutters through a local Home Depot and from there expanded to other regional stores, and ultimately became Home Depot’s primary vendor for plantation shutters in the mid-Atlantic United States.
“I grew this business by paying attention to the details and controlling the process by measuring, manufacturing and installing a custom product,” says Shan.
In 2010, Shan made decided change in his business plan and opened his doors to all customers who wanted to purchase quality shutters without having to go through Home Depot and paying the high markup. So now Interior Decorators and individuals alike can purchase Show-Case Shutters factory-direct at a considerably lower price.

Shan is a degreed engineer who has been involved in manufacturing and design engineering most of his life. It’s this experience that led him to design and build the best custom interior wood plantation shutters available today.
With an incredible eye for detail Shan refuses to sacrifice quality, and has built Show-Case Shutters to be the innovative leader in the plantation shutter industry.

David oversees all production, operations and product design for Show-Case Shutters. Formerly the owner of a millworks manufacturing company, David has over 30 years of woodworking experience. David has brought a world of expertise to Show-Case Shutters with his thorough knowledge of all aspects of woodworking.
