Items such as material used for construction–it all starts with the wood. “A shutter is only as good as the integrity of the materials from which it’s made. That is why we only start with the solid Basswood species. The reason that we use Basswood is due to its strength, woodworking characteristics, and its ability to accept various stains and finishes. What about the construction? We use doweled joinery to make the strongest panels possible, which is topped with our catalyzed lacquer finish. Our ends are sealed unlike other shutter manufacturers’; all exposed cut ends are sealed not just painted. This makes for a much better finished appearance as well as it prevents any moisture from penetrating the wood that could cause warping. Shutter Design–our flush top rail design on our shutters, is an example of how our shutters are better than our competition’s. Our flush top rail is a full 1 1/16” that fits flush with the stiles (the sides). Most of our competition has a ¾” drop rail that does NOT fit in a flush manner to the stiles. Why is this important? The thicker top rail provides for a more substantial, better built plantation shutter in addition to giving a cleaner look and it prevents light from showing through around the edges when you want more privacy.”
